The only item not included is vaccinations, which is required if your horse has not received a complete course of tetanus & strangles or is not up to date with their vaccines.

What Is Gelding and Why Is It Recommended?

• We’ll provide all necessary equipment and sedation

What to Expect During the Procedure

1. Pre-surgical exam
   We will perform a health check to ensure your horse is fit for surgery and administer a sedative and local anesthetic for comfort.

2. The surgery
   Gelding is typically a standing or recumbent (lying down) procedure, depending on the horse’s size, temperament, and age. Both testicles are surgically removed under sterile conditions.

3. Recovery
   Most horses recover quickly with minimal discomfort. Mild swelling and drainage are normal for a few days.

Post-Operative Care

After gelding, your horse will require:

• A quiet recovery space for the first 24 hours

• Light exercise (e.g. hand-walking or turnout) starting the next day to reduce swelling

• Monitoring for complications such as excessive bleeding, swelling, or infection

• Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications as prescribed
