WHISKEY

Say hello to Whiskey, a Quarter Horse cross who was brought to our attention one evening after sustaining a significant laceration running from his poll down to his forehead. Ouch! Suspecting a run-in with a star picket, his owners didn’t waste a moment and gave us a call.

Dr Sophie and veterinary assistant Zara attended to Whiskey after-hours. On arrival, the wound was carefully assessed and prepared for surgery. Whiskey even braved a bit of a makeover – we had to clip his forelock to access the wound properly.

Using multiple layers of stitches, we closed the wound with care to ensure proper healing and reduce the risk of infection. Despite the size and location of the injury, Whiskey was a champ throughout the entire process.

Over the next few weeks, the wound healed nicely, and his forelock even began growing back—making for a neat return to normal.

It was a great outcome for a much-loved horse, and we’re glad to have helped him get back on track.
